Bandits
Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a retired secondary school teacher and the abduction of his wife along with two other women.
The victims were attacked last Sunday by bandits at the staff quarters of Government Secondary School, Tsafe, in Zamfara State.
The bandits the stormed staff quarters at about 3:45am on Sunday, killing the retired teacher when he reportedly resisted their directives.
A resident of the area who craved anonymity said he heard gunshots at night but the situation later became silent.
“We came out to find out that the bandits killed the man living at the staff quarters of the Secondary School identified as Malam Kabiru, and kidnapped the three women, including his wife,” he said.
The source narrated that the victim who was known as Mallam Kabiru was a retired teacher, saying he was shot dead instantly for disobeying that instructions of the bandits.
Spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the incident to LEADERSHIP through the telephone interview.
DSP Yazid confirmed that the bandits stormed the school premises last Sunday night where they killed the victim and kidnapped the three women, including his wife.
“They wanted to abduct him, but he resisted, that was why they decided to kill him instead. His wife and two other women were later taken away by the bandits,” Yazid said.
He further disclosed that police tactical squad and other security operatives have been deployed to the area and were currently pursuing the attackers.
“Troops have been mobilised and are on the trail of the kidnappers. I assure you that the victims will be rescued unharmed,” he added. (LEADERSHIP)
