L-R: VDM, Henry Ugochukwu, Kemi Olunloyo, Julia Nneji
•Laments, 'I was not informed, invited by police before declaring me wanted'
Ihuoma Julia Nneji, daughter of ABC Transport Founder and CEO Frank Nneji, has lamented that she was neither invited nor informed of any petition against her by the police before declaring her wanted.
Miss Nneji, 34, was recently declared wanted by the office of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF NCCC), Abuja, for alleged criminal defamation, injurious falsehood and cyber stalking in a Special Police gazette Bulletin where every information about her was stated.
However, in a statement she issued over the weekend, the embattled light complexioned lady emphatically declared that she never defamed nor blackmailed anyone on her verified social media pages or any other pages but instead, she is the one being blackmailed and threatened by her former boyfriend, Henry Uzochukwu, the complainant in the case.
According to her, “I met Henry Uzochukwu early last year, in April 2024 to be precise, and we began getting to know ourselves. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.
“This conflict between I and Henry Uzochukwu started in August 2024, when I called off the wedding between both of us that was scheduled to hold in November 2024 due to unresolved issues surrounding Henry’s sexuality. I decided to back out of the marriage plans as it was no longer in my best interest to continue.”
The shocked and disappointed lady disclosed that in the process of her investigations she found out that Henry had in the past attempted marriages several times and but never told her the truth regarding his previous marriage attempts and why they failed. “I came to find out that the girl before me had left him a week to the wedding,” she said.
Continuing, Miss Nneji said in the statement, a copy of which was made available to News Express: “Not only was I misinformed by Henry of the truth, I was deceived and manipulated by so many lies that he told.
After I had cancelled the wedding, he began to harass me, threaten my life and even went as far as claiming that I am behind a strange Instagram page spreading rumours about him – a claim that is unfounded, speculative and is false.
“After the first series of threats to life that I received from him, the real trouble started when he resorted to sponsor malicious videos through Verydarkman (VDM) and Kemi Olunloyo to defame me.
“In September and October 2024, several videos were published by VDM and Kemi simultaneously and on the same day as a way to defame, blackmail and harass me. Not only were the stories made up to make me look bad while portraying Henry as the innocent one, the contents of those videos were unverified by the two individuals.”
As a result, “I resorted to filing a civil suit against Uzochukwu, which is currently in the High Court of Abuja.
“Despite this issue being in court, Henry has not rested. He continues to sponsor articles and posts against me via Instagram, Nairaland, Facebook and on, various blogs with misleading information against me, with the intention of tarnishing my image,” Julia said.
Lamenting her ordeal, she said: “I have been falsely and continuously slandered, threatened, defamed and cyberbullied numerous times in a bid to tarnish my reputation and frustrate the civil suit that is in court.”
On VDM, Julia said: “I want to also clarify this issue again – this matter is not between me and VDM, without Henry involving VDM, I have no business with VDM. However, Henry continues to use VDM as a way to distract people from the real issues at hand while hiding his identity as the true person behind this mischief.
“In the latest twist of events, they have filed a false police petition against me and bought over the police to continue in their series of harassment against me.”
Expressing shock at the conduct of the police in the matter, Miss Nneji said: “I was not made aware, invited or informed by the police prior to them declaring me wanted. Uzochukwu knows my legal representatives. None of my lawyers were contacted. I have not done or committed any crime that should make any law to declare me wanted.
“But in a bid to harass and subdue me, they have gone ahead to push this false narrative out with the police while using backdoor connections on their end to harass me via the police. I would also like to debunk and restate that: I have never defamed anyone on my verified social media pages or with any other page. I have never blackmailed anyone as stated in some of the videos circulating online; instead I am the one being blackmailed and threatened.”
“All sponsored blog posts and sponsored commentaries are a plot to discredit me and my family name,” she lamented.
