Anambra State now has the best network of roads in Nigeria comprising urban and rural roads hitherto neglected, the state governor, Mr. Peter Obi, has said.
Speaking yesterday while inspecting the Minaj Road and Odume Layout errosion site Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Obi said the feat was achieved through his administration’s completion of over 800 kilometres of roads across the state since the inception of the regime in 2006. He disclosed that more roads were still under reconstruction.
Obi explained that his administration has continued to engage the services of competent and credible contractors to maintain quality standard. He assured that government would reconstruct Minaj Road to provide access to various investments made in the area in line with the policy of his administration to support and encourage investors.
The governor said government would equally commence intervention on the erosion site to check further devastation and disclosed that mass erosion control projects would soon commence across the state.
Speaking, the Chairman of Minaj Group, Chief Mike Ajaegbo, commended the landmark achievements recorded by the Obi administration and enjoined the incoming regime to build on the solid foundation to ensure continuity.
Governor Obi also inspected the Pedestrian Crossing projects between the Bridge Head, Onitsha, and Tarzan Junction Nkpor. At the Uga Road Junction, Onitsha, the governor assured that the four projects would be completed before the end of this year.
Obi said the entire fund required to complete the projects had been set aside and work would soon be accelerated, as they are part of the on-going upgrading of infrastructure in Onitsha and environs.
