The absence of two key personalities has stalled the public hearing on the alleged sexual misconduct by three members of the House of Representatives.

The hearing scheduled to hold on Thursday, was stalled due to the absence of the Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffery Onyema, and outgoing United States Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle.

Three Nigerian lawmakers, Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom), Mohammed Gololo (APC, Bauchi) and Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue) were accused of alleged sexual misconduct while on an official assignment in Cleveland, USA in April this year.

The accused lawmakers had travelled with seven other Reps to the US for the International Visitor Leadership Program.

Following the incident, the House of Representatives had on Tuesday, summoned Ambassador Entwistle, to provide evidence that the accused lawmakers were indeed guilty of sexual misconduct.

Entwistle was expected to provide video clips of the incident during the public hearing.

The outgoing envoy, in a petition to House Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, said Mohammed Gololo (APC-Bauchi) grabbed a hotel house keeper and solicited sex in his Cleveland hotel room.

He also accused Mark Gbillah (APC-Benue) and Samuel Ikon (PDP-Akwa Ibom) of seeking assistance from car park attendants to help them arrange services of prostitutes.

Following their actions, the US government has cancelled the visas of the accused lawmakers as punishments for their misconducts, barring them from entering the US.

The lawmakers have since denied the allegations.
