By AMINU GARKO
A member of the House of Representatives representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya Federal Constituency, Kabiru Rirum, has called for the ban on movement of hunters’ from the North to the South, citing security challenges in the country.
Rurum made the call when he paid a condolence visit to the families of hunters killed in Uromi, Edo, on Torankawa Village, Bunkure Local Government Area of Kano State.
He said that carrying dangerous weapons around from one part of the country to another, would send a bad signal and potentially lead to suspicion.
Rurum shared his recent experience where over 30 hunters from his hometown, Rano, were apprehended in Ondo State.
He said he had to personally intervene and provided evidence that they were not criminals before they were released.
The lawmaker said that if the people in Ondo had reacted otherwise, the story would have been different.
Rurum who donated N 5 million to the families of the deceased hunters, promised to build an Islamiyya Primary and Secondary School in the area for the orphans.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the factional NNPP, Sen. Masaud Doguwa, condemned the killings and pledged that work on the promised school would commence soon.
Doguwa condoled with the families of the victims and emphasised that the incident should serve as a lesson to prevent similar crimes in the future.
He assured that the school would be built to give hope to the children of the deceased hunters. (NAN)
