Catholic Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, Most Rev Wilfred Anagbe

The Catholic Bishop of Makurdi Diocese, Most Rev. Wilfred Anagbe, has admonished Christians to use prayers as a weapon to fight the invaders killing innocent people and destroying properties.
Anagbe gave the admonition in his sermon during the 2025 Chrism Mass on Thursday in Makurdi.
The cleric decried the unprovoked attacks by assailants that had forced the locals to abandon their ancestral homes and take refuge in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.
He stated that the IDPs were scattered in nine different locations in Makurdi diocese jurisdiction alone.
Anagabe pointed out that the camps were not a solution, stressing that the best solution was to resettle the IDPs in their ancestral homes.
“If displaced persons remained in the camps without an end in sight of their return to their ancestral homes, it is a signal that they had relinquished their lands to the invaders.
“We need to go to God in prayer because He is our only hope, and if we hope in Him, our hope will not be in vain.
“Look to the future with confidence and with a renewed hope as well as an open spirit for a permanent solution,” he urged.
The bishop charged the congregation to look up to God, who is the author and finisher of their faith. (NAN)
