Isa Kabir Brigade, Fatima Adam Kurna; TikTokers arraigned in Kano
A Kano Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of two Tiktokers accused of posting illicit content on social media.
The defendants, Isa Kabir Brigade and Fatima Adam Kurna, were arraigned by the police following their arrest by the Kano State Censorship Board.
They were charged with criminal conspiracy, posting illicit content, and use of vulgar language.
During the arraignment, the prosecuting counsel, Garzali Maigari Bichi, read the charges. Both suspects pleaded guilty to the first two counts and denied the third.
Presiding Judge, Justice Halima Wali, ordered their remand and adjourned the case to April 24 for re-arraignment.
The Censorship Board recently launched a campaign to sanitise social media by engaging content creators and arresting individuals who violate its code of conduct. (Daily Trust, but headline rejigged)
