The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) Kaduna State Command has arrested one Abubakar Aminu, also known as Galadima, a 58-year-old resident of Rimintsiwa, Zaria City, in connection with a case of culpable homicide.
Intelligence sources informed Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended on April 10, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM in Zaria.
Abubakar Aminu allegedly attacked his younger brother, Sani Yusuf, on April 4, 2025. Both individuals are from the royal family of the late Iyan Zazzau of the Zazzau Emirate.
The assault reportedly followed an earlier altercation after Yusuf accused Abubakar of stealing his N15,000. Angered by the accusation, Abubakar repeatedly attacked Yusuf, hitting his head against the wall until he became unconscious. Blood began to flow from Yusuf’s nose and mouth as a result of the injuries.
Upon realizing the severity of his actions, Abubakar covered Yusuf’s face with a wrapper, went inside the house, and gave his phone to family members, claiming that Yusuf was sleeping and that his friends might disturb him. He then fled the scene.
At approximately 3:30 PM, family members discovered Yusuf in a pool of blood and immediately rushed him to a private clinic, but he was refused admission. They then proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Shika. Unfortunately, while under care at the hospital, Yusuf’s condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to the injuries inflicted on him, passing away early on April 10, 2025, at approximately 4:50 AM.
The family has since buried the deceased according to local customs.
Police sources have indicated that the suspect is currently in custody, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Kaduna for further investigation.
Meanwhile, there is pressure from highly placed individuals to dispose of the case. (Zagazola: Text, Excluding Headline)
