
The National Committee for the funeral of the late Stephen Keshi has requested the Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung to expand the scope of its assignment to include late Coach Amodu Shaibu, who like Keshi served Nigeria meritoriously as the committee will be making recommendations to the Federal Government on how to immortalize both former coaches of the Super Eagles.
The committee also canvassed for a Federal Government delegation to attend the 40-day prayers for the late Shaibu coming up on the 20th July, in his home town. The committee said it had noted that that the minister visited the family and took part in the eighth day prayers for him in Lagos.
A statement issued by Emmanuel Ado, Chairman, Media/Publicity & Documentation Committee gave the names of the other members of the delegation as Mr. Fanny Amu, Mr. Joseph Yobo, Mr. Luka Jonathan, Mr. Abdulrazak Salau, Mr. Augustine Egwavone, and Mr. Ricky Aburime while the following are the five sub-committees that were set up to ensure that all the issues relating to the burial are adequately explored: Finance & Contact: Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah Chairman. Other members are Amaju Pinnick, Fanny Amu, Shehu Dikko, Prestly Ediabonya, Chief Tonobok Okowa, and Mr. Maiwada Dan Mallam.
The Media/Publicity& Documentation sub-committee has Mr. Emmanuel Ado as chairman. Other members are Austin Mgbolu, Mitchell Obi, Ambassador Joe Keshi, Prestly Ediabonya, Chief Tonobok Okowa, and Ademola Olajire.
The Transport/Logistics sub-committee has Mr. Christian Ohaa as Chairman while other members are Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, Prestly Ediabonya, Chief Tonobok Okowa, Augustine Eguavone, and Onoh Dominic
The Security sub-committee has a representative of the Inspector General of Police with the following as members: Brig. General U. O. Olatoye, Commandant Ayodele Titus, a representative of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa, Prestly Ediabonya and Dr. Christian Emeruwa.
The Ceremonial/Protocol sub-committee is made up of Mrs. Hauwa-Kulu Akinyemi as chairman. Other members are Augustine Eguavoen, Jennier Keshi, Ricky Aburime, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, Chief Tonobok Okowa, Mr. Prestly Ediabonya and Issa Suleiman.
