The Edo Community in Kano State has urged the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, bring to justice the killers of 16 travellers at Uromi, Edo.
The President of the community, Dr Patrick Agba, at a news conference in Kano on Saturday described killings as brutal.
The victims, who were predominantly hunters were allegedly ambushed by a vigilance group and armed youths on March 27, 2025.
He also described the incident as unfortunate and expressed solidarity with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Monday Okpehbolo of Edo in condemning the barbaric act.
He sympathised with the Kano State Government, the families of the victims, and all Nigerians over incident.
Agba emphasised that Edo people are peace-loving and did not align themselves with those who participated in the sad incident.
In his reaction, the chief of Edo community in Kano, Don Akhigbe, also said that Edo people are peace loving citizens who leave harmoniously with all Nigerians.
?We see what had happened in Uromi as an affront to the unity of the country and we don?t accept it. It is illegal and stand condemnable. We call on the government to ensure that justice is done accordingly,? Akhigbe said.
He commended Tinubu and Okpebholo for their swift reaction to the incident, noting that the leaders? positions would go a long way in ensuring peace and harmony among Nigerians.
Meanwhile the police have arrested 14 suspects in connection with the incident and an investigation is ongoing.
The Kano State Government has condemned the killings, calling for an immediate, thorough and transparent investigation. (NAN)
