Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has condemned the killing of Northern travelers in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, calling it a tragic reminder of the nation?s deepening security crisis.

Obi, in a statement on Saturday, expressed heartbreak over the incident, stressing that every Nigerian has the right to move freely and safely within the country.

?These acts of violence are unacceptable and have no place in any civilized society,? he said. ?While security concerns are valid, resorting to mob action and extrajudicial killings only deepens the cycle of lawlessness.?

He praised the government for swiftly denouncing the attack and launching an investigation but urged that justice must be served for all victims, including Edo indigenes affected by similar violence.

Obi called for improved security measures and stronger public awareness to prevent further tragedies.

He also urged communities to work with security agencies rather than take the law into their own hands.

?My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims. We must foster a nation where peace, unity, and respect for human life prevail,? he said. (The Guardian)
