RIWAMA Sole Administrator frowns at refuse build-up in Port Harcourt, threatens to sanction defaulting service providers

The Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro Felix Obuah, has observed with displeasure that some service providers appear to have relaxed in their task of evacuating dirt and wastes in their zones with the consequent build-up of refuse on the affected roads and streets in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

In a statement issued by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Sole Administrator, Bro Obuah warned that the appropriate measures and sanctions await defaulters and that the agency will not hesitate to reprimand defaulting contractors accordingly.

While appealing to the service providers to have a change of heart, Bro Obuah said ensuring that the roads and streets are clean and ridden of refuse should be the concern of all stakeholders.

“May I therefore warn for the last time that all those service providers in the affected zones risk being sacked to make room for more serious and committed partners so as not to compromise the efforts of Governor Nyesom Wike who has put all necessary machinery in place to restore the Garden-City status of Port Harcourt and its environs,” the Sole Administrator stressed.

He however, used the opportunity to felicitate and congratulate the Muslims for a successful completion of the Ramadan fast, wishing them and all service providers a Happy Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The Sole Administrator also advised the service providers and indeed, all stakeholders to imbibe the good morals of the Ramadan period and reflect same in their behaviour, actions and responsibility of keeping the environment clean, safe and healthy for all.
