As part of efforts to build a health sector of excellence, the Delta State Ministry of Health has called on students, parents, educators, and all stakeholders to reject examination malpractice and embrace hard work, integrity, and merit-based success.
The Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme made the call today when addressing students of the State Colleges of Nursing Sciences, Agbor, and Asaba, respectively, over the forthcoming Preliminary Training Studies (PTS) examination.
The Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, who was represented by his Special Assistant, Dr. Omovigho Agbele, said everyone must come together to safeguard the future of nursing education and also ensure that only qualified students enter the nursing professions since it concerns saving lives.
“We have received reports of fraudulent individuals and groups deceiving candidates with false promises of securing examination success in exchange for money. This unethical practice not only undermines the integrity of the nursing and midwifery profession but also endangers public health by allowing unqualified individuals into the healthcare system.
“Nursing and midwifery examinations are designed to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and competency. Success can only be achieved through hard work, dedication, and adherence to ethical standards, so any attempt to manipulate the system will result in severe consequences, including expulsion from the school.
He urged the students and other members of the public to report any such fraudulent activities to the appropriate authorities for immediate action as the school, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and other relevant bodies, are committed to ensuring a transparent and merit-based examination process that upholds the credibility of the nursing profession and safeguards public health.
“Students should feel free to come forward and report any case or person involved in any form of money-for-good-grade as their identity will be protected.” (Delta State News Bulletin)
