The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Engr AbdulAkeem Owoade, has commenced the 21 days of traditional rites, otherwise known as ?Oro Ipebi,? on Friday night.
The Chief of Staff to Kabiyesi, Mr Rotimi Osuntola, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Friday.
He disclosed that the traditional rites, which started yesterday, will end on Saturday, 29th March 2025.
The statement read, ?The Al??fin of Oyo Kingdom hereby announces the commencement of ?R? ?P?B?, the mandatory rites for His Imperial Majesty before his ascension to the revered throne of The Al??fin.
?The rites commence from Friday, 7th March to Saturday, 29th March 2025. Throughout the period, curfew shall be imposed, as is customary, from 8pm to 6am daily throughout Oyo township.
?This means movements are not allowed during the period of the curfew, and anyone who contravenes this order shall be arrested and detained until 7am of the following day after their arrest.

?It is pertinent to state that ORO IP?BI, which makes the incoming Al??fin go into absolute seclusion while it lasts, is sacrosanct for the ascending Ik?-B?b?-Y?y? and must be respected by all and sundry.?
