A Grade ?A? Customary Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan on Friday remanded a man, Kunle Popoola, 43 in a correctional centre over alleged brutal assault of a woman.
The President, Mrs S.M. Akintayo, ordered Popoola to be remanded in Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan due to his inability to fulfill his bail conditions.
Akintayo admitted the defendant to a bail of N100,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
She added that the sureties must possess evidence of two years tax payment to the Oyo State government.
Akintayo, subsequently, adjourned the case until April 14 for trial.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that the defendant committed the crime on March 2, at about 3.45 p.m. at Celestia Church of Christ, Army Barrack Mokola, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Ayeni further said that Popoola was apprehended by the police after brutally slapping one Mary Alonge, therefore, inflicting bodily injuries on her.
According to the police prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State 2000. (NAN)
