Reports about a young girl shooting a police officer to save her mother originated from an account that posts fictional and satirical content.

Social media posts shared, opens new tab an image featuring a ?Dax News? logo showing a little girl with pigtails and the text, ?Walmart Lawsuit Filed After False Theft Allegation Ends in Tragedy for Michigan Family.?

Some posts, opens new tab say the image shows a 6-year-old or 10-year-old girl named Aaliyah who saved her mother, Denise Williams, by shooting an officer named Lindsey Carter.

However, there are no credible reports of any such incident.

The image shared online can be traced to an Instagram account, opens new tab, ?@dax_news_daily,? which describes itself as, ?Official page of the legendary Dax News. The one who keeps fooling the internet because they?re too dumb to read my profile.?

The account, created In December 2024, has already changed its name once, according to its ?About?, opens new tab information.

The account has shared several other posts, opens new tab about ?Amazing Aaliyah? that use the same, opens new tab or similar images of the girl.

Similar posts, opens new tab can also be seen on the TikTok account @dax.news.media.

A spokesperson for the Michigan State Police said they were not aware of any such incident in the state.
