New UNIZIK CPGS Provost, Prof Emmanuel Chukwudebere Obidimma

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) has appointed Prof. Emmanuel Chukwudebere Obidimma as the new Provost of the College of the Postgraduate Studies (CPGS).
Obidimma emerged as the new Provost during the 230th Senate meeting of the University held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the University Auditorium.
Prof. Obidimma from the Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, UNIZIK, polled a total of 164 votes to defeat Prof. Stanley Chidi Udedi of the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Biosciences, UNIZIK, who polled a total of 146 votes, while Prof. Onyenmechi Johnson Afonne of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, UNIZIK, polled 83 votes and Prof. Felix Afamefuna Onyegbule of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UNIZIK, polled 8 votes to take the third and fourth positions respectively.
Before his emergence as the new sheriff of the CPGS, Prof. Obidimma was the Deputy Provost (Humanities) of the CPGS.
He is expected to take over from the current Provost, Engr. Prof. Philomena Igbokwe whose tenure will end on March 31st, 2025.
