Rev Fr Obimma aka Ebube Muonso
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
The Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, aka Ebube Muonso, has awarded scholarship to the son of late lawmaker, Hon. Justice Azuka, who was abducted and killed by his abductors in December of 2024.
Obimma stated this during his visit to the family of the deceased in Onitsha, saying that Soludo?s administration is a ?government of deceit that often parades lies.
The cleric who held a special mass in honour of the late Hon. Azuka at his Onitsha residence said: ?Today, I give a scholarship to the first son. I will provide him with free education until he travels abroad to further his studies.?
Addressing journalists during the visit, Obimma criticised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for using media aides he described as ?charlatans? to attack him, instead of addressing the state?s pressing issues.
The cleric, who had been vocal about the state?s insecurity, accused Soludo of unleashing ?media rats? to defame him, stating that this tactic was the governor?s worst mistake in the face of the recent events in the state.
He said: ?The governor?s intention is to use his media aides to spread lies and vilify me. Such an approach would only make me more vocal.?
While dismissing as false the recent statement by the Anambra State Police that the prime suspects involved in the killing of the lawmaker were still in custody and not among the two who escaped, the Catholic priest added: ?When Azuka was missing, many people showed interest in his whereabouts and even called on the phone. Some experts in tracking such situations were also involved, but eventually, the corpse was discovered. But to my greatest chagrin, the prime suspects who were apprehended were allowed to escape.
?I believe someone is trying to cover something. That?s why they allowed them to escape from custody. You can?t tell me that police officers with guns would allow someone with only handcuffs to escape.
"The story is simply laughable. It was a clear sabotage. The killing was indeed political, and I will continue to say it. I will keep saying that the governor, who is the chief security officer of the state, must provide answers.?
Obimma further consoled the family, saying that the scholarship gesture for the late lawmaker's son would continue until the child completes his education abroad.
