Betty Akeredolu and Ondo States Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omowunmi Isaac
A civil rights group, African Grassroots Empowerment Organisation, is demanding answers over the death of former Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The group is calling for a thorough investigation into allegations made by Ondo State?s Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac, suggesting that the governor?s wife, Dr. Betty Akeredolu, was responsible for his death.
According to a press release issued by the Director of Public Communications of the Organization, Comr. Oscar David Kalu, the group claims to have seen a WhatsApp conversation between Dr. Betty Akeredolu and Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac. In the conversation, Mrs. Isaac allegedly stated that she had evidence of Dr. Akeredolu?s involvement in her husband?s death.
The group has given Mrs. Isaac a 7-day ultimatum to provide evidence to support her claims.
They are also calling on the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter. This is contained in a petition addressed to the IGP and other relevant quarters, also made available to the Press, which calls for arrest and prosecution of the Commissioner.
The former Governor Akeredolu?s death was previously reported to be due to complications from prostate cancer. However, the new allegations have raised questions and sparked demands for further investigation. (Daily Independent)
