A man with hearing impairment, Kurma Haruna, on Tuesday dragged one Malama Bilkisu, his lover, to a Shari?a court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, for refusing to marry him.

The complainant, a resident of Hayin Dan-mani area, also prayed the court to assist him recover his savings amounting to N100,00 from the defendant.

The Judge, Malam Kabir Muhammad, had asked the complainant to present witnesses in which he presented his brother, Abubakar Haruna.

The brother stated that Haruna had been saving his money with the defendant for long, adding that trouble started when he requested for his money.

?He used to give her N2,000 to N5,000 for safe-keeping and when he needed money, he calculated the amount he had been saving and arrived at N175,000.

?The defendant, however, stated that she could only remember N80,000; a situation which made them go to a Shari?a court in Rigasa.

?She presented N80,000 to the court but Kurma refused to collect the money saying he?s not satisfied,? he said.

According to the witness, the then Judge had stated that the two parties would swear with the Quran but they refused to return to the court since then.

The judge adjourned the case to March 17, for the defendant?s counsel to present his address. (NAN)
