DSS operatives
The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested three individuals linked to the assault on its officers during the recent unrest at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The crisis erupted amid rumors of an attempted return by Mudashiru Obasa, who was removed as Speaker several weeks ago.
According to security sources, lawmakers mobilized supporters to the Assembly complex, where some individuals attacked DSS operatives who had been invited by the Assembly leadership to secure the facility.
A DSS source disclosed, ?After extensive analysis of CCTV footage, we were able to clearly identify three of the suspects.?
The arrested individuals include Ibrahim Olanrewaju Abdulkareem, a photographer, and two staff members attached to the Assembly?s Sergeant-at-Arms?Adetu Adekunle Samsudeen and Adetola Oluwatosin Fatimoh.
They were tracked and arrested at different locations in Lagos during the week.
?The trio have since confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court,? the source added.
A leaked memo from the Lagos Assembly, dated February 14, 2025, and addressed to the DSS Director in the state, as well as other security agencies, warned of a potential security threat. The memo alleged that Obasa had planned to forcefully reinstate himself on February 18, 2025.
The Assembly management viewed the situation as a serious security risk to the legislature and its members, prompting the deployment of security operatives to maintain order. (Vanguard)
