Pregnant women residing in Delta State have been called upon to register into the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme and obtain a Health card, to enable them enjoy the free healthcare services, made available by the State Government.
The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, made the call in a statement.
The statement noted that the Commission had already commenced its NO HEALTH CARD NO FREE TREATMENT policy, adding that anyone without a health insurance card would not be allowed to access free health treatment at the various health facilities in the state.
It reiterated that the era of free antenatal healthcare, and free delivery services for pregnant women without health cards was over and advised women in the state to endeavor to register with the Commission, and obtain a health card immediately they get pregnant, to enjoy the free services.
The Commission in the statement also directed that all children under five years must register and get a Health card before attending hospital, to access the free treatment. (Delta State News Bulletin)
