The Distribution Committee for the mass wedding of 300 couples in Kebbi State has commenced the distribution of furniture and essential materials to brides and grooms.
The mass wedding is sponsored by the Kebbi State Government in partnership with the NANAS Foundation, a pet project of the Governor’s Wife, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris.
Speaking to newsmen at the Ministry for Women Affairs in Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, highlighted that this year’s event would be more organized than the previous one.
“All necessary materials were received early and are being distributed promptly to avoid any mix-up,” he said.
He praised the State Government and NANAS Foundation for the initiative, urging them to maintain the momentum to benefit more people.
The Acting Chairman and Secretary of the Transportation Committee, Alhaji Kabiru Alaramma, described the mass wedding as a blessing to society.
“The initiative, titled ‘Auren Gata’ by His Excellency, Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, is a blessing to Kebbi State. Distribution of wedding materials to beneficiaries is already underway,” he stated.
The distributed Items include beds, mattresses, chairs, and wedding gowns for both males and females.
Alaramma added that the mass wedding, scheduled for February 27, 2025, at the Emir of Gwandu’s palace, is expected to be a resounding success.
Hon. Safiyanu Garba-Bena, former Head of Service and a member of the Transport Committee, recalled the success of last year’s mass wedding organized by the State Government and NANAS Foundation.
He advised the couples to use the provided items wisely to ensure a smooth and fulfilling married life. (Daily Sun)
