Officer Cadet Owowoh Princess Oluchukwu
Officer Cadet Owowoh Princess Oluchukwu made history as the first-ever Nigerian female officer to graduate from the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) in the United Kingdom.
At just 24 years old, she distinguished herself among 135 Officer Cadets during the Sovereign’s Parade, marking the successful completion of 44 weeks of intensive training as part of Commissioning Course 232.
She was one of the international cadets who travel to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in Camberley, Surrey, to receive leadership training, before they are commissioned into their respective militaries around the world.
An army representative was quoted by DailyMailUK, remarking about her, “A lot of the hierarchy from her own forces were there to witness the event. By all accounts she is a very popular person judging by all of the people who were hugging her.
“She is very physically powerful and was very intent on wanting to join the Nigerian military. She had a beaming smile all the way through.”
Her journey began in 2018 when she was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna State.
Throughout her time at the NDA, Princess exhibited outstanding leadership and academic excellence, earning various appointments such as Cadet Lance Corporal, Cadet Sergeant, and ultimately, Company Senior Under Officer Charlie (CSUO C) in her final year. Along with two female counterparts, she broke new ground as one of the first women to hold the position of CSUO at the academy.
Princess’ academic achievements were equally commendable. During her fourth year, she excelled in the Academics Wing of the commissioning course, graduating with first-class honors in Biological Sciences. Her dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence earned her admiration from peers, instructors, mentors, and family members who supported her journey.
Following her historic graduation, Princess Owowoh expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support she received and reaffirmed her dedication to serving Nigeria with pride. (Vanguard)
