The Federal Ministry of Education has summoned the principal of Federal Government Girls? College (FGGC), Benin City, to Abuja over allegations of sexual harassment against a teacher, Mr. Jatto.
This development follows the submission of an investigative panel?s report, which exonerated the accused and clarified that the case was one of high-handedness in classroom management, rather than sexual harassment.
In a statement on Thursday, Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the ministry, stated that an official investigation is still ongoing.
?Following a thorough review, it has been established that the case in question is not one of sexual harassment but an issue of high-handedness in classroom management, which was initially misrepresented,? the statement read.
The ministry further explained that preliminary findings from the school?s investigative panel indicated that Mr. Jatto was on prep supervision duty at the time of the incident and was responding to a rowdy classroom situation.
Despite the panel?s report, the principal has been summoned to Abuja for further clarification as part of the ministry?s continued investigation.
The statement urged the public to remain patient until the final findings are announced. ?The Ministry remains committed to transparency and upholding the integrity of educational institutions across the country,? it concluded. (Vanguard)
