The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has announced that Nigerians are now required to present their National Identification Number (NIN) to have access to social services.
Akume made the announcement while opening an Inter-Ministerial retreat on the Nigeria Digital Identification for Development (ID4D) Project at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
He harped on the need for the impoverished and vulnerable to have the NIN so that they can benefit from palliatives.
Senator Akume, who was represented by Prof. Babatunde Bolaji, noted that President Bola Tinubu?s administration is focused on providing digital identity for all Nigerians.
He called on government agencies to show for the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in establishing a robust and inclusive national identity system.
Speaking further, Akume lauded the NIMC Director-General, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, for her dedication and commitment to fulfilling the Commission?s mandate.
He assured her of his support in the pursuit of reforms to reposition the NIMC through the ID4D Project. (Daily Sun)
