The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has officially resumed the collection of access gate fees at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, following a temporary suspension due to ongoing road construction.
In a statement issued to the public via their official X account on Saturday, FAAN confirmed that the collection resumed at 8:30 AM on February 8, 2025.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the general public that the Authority has officially resumed collection of access gate fees at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 8:30 am, 8th February 2025.”
The authority had earlier halted the fee collection on January 24, 2025, citing challenges caused by construction activities at the airport.
“The collection was suspended on the 24th of January due to the inconvenience caused by the road construction,” FAAN had stated.
It was reported that FAAN had suspended all access gate fees at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and said that the decision was made to ease traffic congestion for airport road users.
It further noted that the suspension would be in effect from Friday, January 24, 2025, to Friday, February 7, 2025.
It read, “The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the general public that all access gates at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International International Airport, Abuja, are suspended to alleviate the traffic burden on our airport road users.” (The PUNCH)
