Kidnappers and murderers of a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Justice Azuka, have been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti Smuggling Agency (SASA) in partnership with a combined security team from the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Abuja.

The lawmaker was kidnapped along Ugwunabakpa road in Inland town, Onitsha, while on his way home on the eve of Christmas 2024.

In the cause of security search for his whereabouts, his Range Rover car was discovered where it was abandoned without any trace of him.

However, the operation, which took place late Wednesday night, resulted in the capture of the suspects, who then led security teams to the location where they had dumped the lawmaker’s body near the 2nd Niger Bridge.

SASA spokesperson Ambassador Karen James in a statement expressed satisfaction with the operation, saying: “Nothing in this world is hidden under the sun. Kudos to our men for their job well done. May Hon. Justice Azuka’s soul rest in peace.”

The successful operation has been met with praise from residents, who are relieved that the perpetrators have been caught, even as the community continues to mourn the loss of Azuka.

The incident has sparked renewed calls for stronger security measures, particularly for public officials in Anambra.
