The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that Air Peace and Aero Contractors compensated passengers in 2024 for flight delays, cancellations, and cabin class downgrades.
In a report shared on X on Monday, signed by Michael Achimugu, the Director of Consumer Protection and Public Affairs, on behalf of Chris Najomo, the Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), it was revealed that Air Peace compensated 1,901 passengers in November 2024, while Aero Contractors compensated 20 passengers for the entire year.
According to the report, business class downgrades accounted for the largest portion of compensation, with Air Peace offering a 65 percent discount on each downgrade. Additionally, the airline also compensated passengers for unscheduled maintenance, technical issues, operational reasons, aircraft swaps, and short-landed baggage.
Aero Contractors offered compensation, including economy class tickets and business class return tickets, among other compensations.
On November 16, 2024, the agency reported that Air Peace recorded its highest passenger traffic of 129 on flight 7170 from Lagos to Benin City, offering a 25 percent discount as compensation for operational disruptions.
