The absence of a prosecution witness on Monday stalled the trial of 20 Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) in a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja.
In the suit, marked: FCT/HC/CR/042/2023, a former PTD National Chairman, Lucky Osesua, is charged alongside 19 others with five counts of attempted murder, breach of peace and assault.
The defendants were alleged to have attacked Akporeha; Afolabi and Egbon, thus acting in a manner likely to cause their death, among others offences.
Also charged with Osesua are Dayyabu Garga; Humble Obinna; Akinolu Olabisi; Godwin Nwaka; Tiamiu Sikiru; Abdulmimin Shaibu and John Amajuoyi.
Others are Zaira Aregbo; Patrick Erhivwor; Stephen Ogheneruemu; Gift Ukponku and Sunday Ezeocha and seven others.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Justice Yusuf Halilu, adjourned the matter until March 12 after the prosecution counsel, A. R. Tahir, told the court that the prosecution second (PW2) was not in court due to his flight delay.
?We apologise for the inconvenience. To show our seriousness we will be asking for 2 clear dates? Tahir prayed the court.
Oshimorgi Christopher SAN, counsel for the defendants did not object to the prayer for adjournment. (NAN)
