Dr Adekunle Omoyele, Amotekun Corps Commandant, Osun State
Amid feared infiltration of Osun State by suspected members of ISWAP and Boko Haram, Osun State Security Network code-named Amotekun Corps is on red alert, as the outfit has begun digital surveillance of the state.
It said residents should call 293 toll free number during emergency or for security tips.
Corps Commandant Dr. Adekunle Omoyele, speaking yesterday during News Point Programme of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, Correspondent Chapel, said: ?We are recruiting additional 1,000 personnel into the outfit to join 320 men on ground.
?Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved our proposal and the recruitment will start next month. This will help us fight crime, especially with the invasion by ISWAP and Boko Haram members. We are on red alert; criminals must stay away from our state.?
?We have realised that most of those foreigners always alight from trucks and vehicles on Ilesa Expressway, to take up menial jobs, including mining of gold. But we are on top of the situation. Residents should not panic because we are ahead of them.?
He said Amotekun Corps had deployed technology in tackling criminal activities
