Sunday Tribune gathered that the deceased identified as Oluwatobiloba Osho and Oladimeji Victor were from the theatre arts department of the university.
Investigations revealed that the deceased had joined their colleagues in company with their supervisor for research work and rehearsal at Igogo-Ekiti, a neighboring community in the area.
A source who was part of the trip, however, said that after the academic assignment in the community, the two students headed to Ikun-Ekiti for sightseeing.

?After the close of rehearsal, the two students decided to go to Ikun-Ekiti possibly to have some fun at the damn before they both drowned,? the source disclosed.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ekiti state command, SP Abutu Sunday who confirmed the incident said efforts were ongoing to recover the bodies of the students.
He said, ?Efforts are still ongoing by the Police, Fishermen and other concerned citizens to recover the bodies of the two Ekiti State University Students that were suspectedly drowned by Ero Dam in Ikun-Ekiti.? (Saturday Tribune)
