Akwa Ibom state-born Miss Abasifreke Joseph, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member kidnapped 9 January is critically ill with her family calling for public support to restore her health after being released by her abductors.

Miss Joseph who earned a degree from the College of Education (CoE) Afaha Nsit, Akwa Ibom state and is currently undergoing NYSC scheme in Kogi state was abducted along Enugu Kogi Highway while returning to her place of primary assignment after last Christmas break.

Her family In an outcry in Uyo yesterday said the Corps member had fallen critically ill after regaining freedom, calling for public support to help give her adequate medical attention to restore her health.

Victor Joseph, the elder brother who expressed the family appeal said her sister, a 2024 Batch C1 corps member has been admitted to the General Hospital Ukpom Abak with the family in dire need of money to deal with the situation.

?Abasifreke is passing through serious trauma after spending several days in the forest. We are making a passionate appeal to government at all levels and other good spirited members of the public to come to the aid of the family so we can give her proper medical attention?, he appealed.

It was gathered that the family paid huge ransome to secure her release, an issue on which Victor Joseph declined response, stressing that restoring his sibling?s health was uppermost to the family at the moment. (Saturday Vanguard)
