Why many young people are dying prematurely — Yul Edochie

Actor Yul Edochie

Popular Nollywood actor and director, Yul Edochie, has expressed concern over the rising number of premature deaths among young people, particularly those in their twenties, thirties, and forties.

In a recent post on his verified Facebook account, he attributed the trend to a departure from traditional African practices and a growing embrace of Western lifestyles.

According to him, this shift has caused a disconnection from ancestral spirits, which he believes play a significant role in protecting individuals and communities.

He, however, called for a return to traditional ways, which he described as pure and powerful.

The actor added that such a move could restore harmony and address the underlying issues contributing to early deaths.

He wrote, “Too many premature deaths these days.

Young people dying in their twenties, thirties, forties.

It’s not normal.

“It’s happening because we have abandoned our traditional ways and embraced the ways of oyibo people.

“The spirits that protect many of us and our lands are angry because they’ve been relegated. We must go back to our traditional ways, which are very pure and powerful.” (Nigerian Tribune)
