Ogun State Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola
An 82-year-old man, Mural Raimi who was declared missing on Wednesday has been found dead in Lukaran Forest, Atikori, Ijebu-Igbo area of Ogun State.
The deceased, who resided at Ilero Village, Atikori in Ijebu-Igbo, was reported missing by one Jimoh Salau and Muibi Popoola at the Ijebu-Igbo Division on January 7.
Days after he was reported missing the State Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.
According to Odutola, the complainants reported that they had searched everywhere and reached out to other relatives and friends, yet no positive response was received.
She noted that the complainants added that a day later, the decomposing corpse of the victim was found in Lukaran Forest in Atikori by a hunter.
Odutola said, ?Jimoh Salau, who was accompanied to the station by Muibi Popoola, both from the same village as the late octogenarian, said he was his uncle, and that all efforts to locate him proved abortive.?
She quoted Jimoh as saying, ?We have virtually searched known places, reached out to other relatives and friends without positive clues. A day after, precisely on Thursday, January 9, the decomposing corpse of the victim was found in Lukaran Forest in Atikori by a hunter.?
The police spokesperson disclosed that efforts are ongoing to recover the decomposing corpse, and an investigation to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death has begun.
?Efforts are being made to recover the decomposing corpse,? Odutola added, ?and the case is under investigation.? (Saturday Telegraph)
