Dr Obadare Peter Adewale
In 2024, Dr. Obadare Peter Adewale, the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Digital Encode Limited, made history as Nigeria?s first Professor of Practice in Cybersecurity.
This special title is given to experts with outstanding achievements and experience in their fields.
Dr. Obadare, who was also named Forbes? Best of Africa Outstanding Digital Trust Leader, received his appointment letter from Miva Open University in Abuja. The letter, dated July 1, 2024, was signed by the university?s registrar, Iheanyi Akwitti. The position recognises his global reputation in digital trust, cybersecurity strategy, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC).
In this position, Dr. Obadare will combine his academic knowledge with practical experience to teach students how cybersecurity works in real life. He will focus on key areas like protecting computer systems, finding security weaknesses, investigating cybercrimes, and managing risks.
The Vice Chancellor of Miva Open University, Professor Tayo Arulogun, is leading this initiative. It will give students real-world experience, help them connect with industry professionals, and prepare them for jobs in the growing field of cybersecurity.
Who is Dr. Obadare Peter Adewale
Dr. Adewale Obadare is an award-winning cybersecurity expert and digital trust leader. He has over 58 international certifications, an MSc in Cybersecurity from Liverpool University, and an Honorary Doctorate in Cybersecurity from Trinity International University of Ambassadors, USA.
He Is a Fellow of respected organisations, including the British Computer Society (FBCS), the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), the Institute of Information Management (FIIM) and the Enterprise Security Risk Management Institute (FESRM).
Dr. Obadare has achieved many firsts in Africa, including Nigeria?s first PECB Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO), Africa?s first EC-Council Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT) and Africa?s first EC-Council Certified Blockchain Expert.
He Is also one of two COBIT 5 Certified Assessors in Africa and a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) Qualified Security Assessor. In 2023, Forbes gave him the Best of Africa Outstanding Digital Trust Leader award.

Dr. Obadare is an expert in cybersecurity, data privacy, and risk management. He has worked with governments, companies, and global organisations to make digital systems more secure.
He serves on the Lagos State Cybersecurity Advisory Board and is involved in global projects like the Open Worldwide Application Security Project (OWASP).
Education and Achievements
