BREAKING: EFCC summons billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya’s sons over alleged naira abuse

Footage of Okoya's sons allegedly abusing the naira

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited Subomi and Wahab, sons of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, for interrogation over alleged abuse of the naira.

Subomi and his brother Wahab have been in the news lately after they were seen in a viral video spraying naira notes while a police officer held stacks of the currency, a violation of Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.

The Nigerian Police subsequently identified and detained the policeman captured in the video, condemning his action as unprofessional.

This has led to a storm on social media, with Nigerians alleging double standard and demanding the arrest of the Okoya’s sons as well.

The campaign seems to be having the desired effect, as the EFCC has now summoned the two brothers, according to a report by TheCable.

It referenced an invite signed by Michael Wetkas, acting director of the Lagos directorate of the EFCC, in which the anti-graft agency directed the two young billionaire siblings to report to The Head, Special Operations Team at the 15A Awolowo Road Office of the commission by 10am on Monday, January 13, 2025.
