Ajayi, LASEPA General Manager
The Lagos State government has confirmed the shutting down of 528 organisations, including religious centres, last year, over noise pollution. General Manager of the Lagos Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, revealed this yesterday during a briefing on the activities of his agency in 2024 and its plans for 2025.
According to him, in all its activities, his agency strived to make Lagos a better place for residents and visitors. He added that in 2024, LASEPA made progress around regulations, and hopes to consolidate in the new year.
“We hope 2025 will be better than last year. We hope we can engrave in the heart of the people of Lagos environmental consciousness. This year, we will double our efforts in the area of advocacy,” Ajayi said
He noted that the agency hopes to be more proactive, as it has opened up more channels of communication for seamless reach by the people.
“We have digitalised lots of our processes. We are doubling on our public complaint centre so that people can reach us,” he added. Ajayi said the agency would double its enforcement activities this year to further drive compliance.
“We will be holding industries more responsible this year,” he added. (The Guardian)
