Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris
The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, on Thursday said that there are no established bandit camps within the state.
He explained that most of the bandits operating in Kebbi infiltrate from neighbouring states, as the state shares borders with three states and two countries.
Governor Idris made this disclosure while addressing journalists after a closed door security meeting held at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
He emphasised that the state government has made significant efforts to address security challenges over the past year.
The purpose of the recent meeting, he noted, was to devise strategies and plans for the year 2025.
To further enhance the fight against banditry, Governor Idris announced plans to strengthen the operations of vigilante groups complementing security forces in the state.
As part of these efforts, the government will procure 1,000 motorcycles for the vigilante groups to boost their mobility and efficiency. (Channels TV)
