Prince Lawrence Isola Haastrup, younger brother of the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has condemned the process that produced the new monarch.

Lawrence, who also contested for the stool, reacting to the development, said he was hastily crowned by the government, which was a taboo that opposed the tradition of Ijesa people and the throne.

He said: ?Some people have selected the council king, which is not Owa Obokun. Those of us that know the law, we are aware that the case is before the court.

?Those who are behind the installation have violated the law. The court is expecting us on January 16 and we are sure the judge will not be happy with all they have done. What they did is contempt of court.

?They said the kingmakers that have existed before the death of Oba Adekunle Aromolaran are not relevant. The same kingmakers they threaten to remove if they fail to be present at the presentation of certificate. What you are doing does not have the support of Ijesa people.??
