Traders from the Ojuwoye Market trooping out to protest the shutdown of their market
Traders at Ojuwoye Market in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have appealed to the Iyaloja-General, Mrs. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, to prevail on some people who claimed to be acting from her office to reopen their market.
The traders, who trooped out in numbers, also appealed to the Lagos State Government to urgently intervene in the closure the market.
Speaking with reporters at the market, the Iyaloja of Ojuwoye Market and Iyaloja-General of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Alhaja Mufuliat Adebunmi, stated that the closure occurred without a prior notice.
According to her, proper investigation should be carried out by the office of Iyaloja-General on the issue that led to the closure.
Alhaja Adebunmi said: ?We want to appeal to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to wade into the matter. The whole traders were not happy to have their shops locked up during Yuletide where they?re expected to make sales. Many got loans to stock their shops and it would amount to huge loss of they?re not allowed to sell the goods. Shutting down market during festival would affect the economic growth of the state.?
