A group known as Concerned Igbo Citizens, CIC has condemned the media statement allegedly made by the leader of Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) on the open declaration of support for Niger Delta Avengers by the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB led by Comrade Uchenna Madu.

In a statement made available yesterday to journalists in Awka, Anambra State capital by CIC Chairman Okechukwy Nnogu, the group described the reaction from Uwazuruike as unguided and inconsequential, saying that though the Niger Delta Avengers chose a method different from that of MASSOB/IPOB to drive home their anger, they should still be accommodated as brothers fighting the same fight for freedom having thrown their weight behind the struggle for the actualisation of a sovereign state of Biafra.

The group also noted that though MASSOB is a non violent organisation, their leader’s choice of aligning with the Niger Delta Avengers shows his willingness to always identify with and uphold genuineness in Biafra struggle.

The statement read thus: “The attention of the Concerned Igbo Citizens, CIC have been drawn to an unguided and inconsequential statements and reaction from Ralph Uwazuruike led Biafra Independent Movement, BIM on the activities of Niger Delta Avengers and the timely support given to them by Comrade Uchenna Madu.

“CIC condemn the condemnation of MASSOB by Ralph Uwazuruike through his spokesman, Sunny Okoroafo. How can Uwazuruike declare Niger Delta Avengers as criminals and militants who specialises only on blowing oil and gas pipelines and other economic destructions?

“Niger Delta Avengers have consistently and continually declared their support for Biafra actualisation insisting that they are Biafrans. Though they choose a method different from MASSOB and IPOB whose modus operandiis non violence, Niger Delta Avengers vowed to reduce Nigerian economic power through their activities for the sake of Biafra, a goal that is almost near and to which Biafrans are celebrating them.

“Even though MASSOB is a non violent organisation, aligning or supporting Niger Delta Avengers shows that Comrade Uchenna Madu led MASSOB always identify with and uphold genuineness in Biafra struggle.

“We support the leadership of Uchenna Madu led MASSOB, his ingenuity, consistency, self determination and struggle is written on the sand of history.

“Concerned Igbo Citizens also acknowledge that Niger Delta Avengers' activities which MASSOB supports have brought Nigeria to their knees. Nigeria is afraid because NDA identifies with Biafra struggle and demand for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and other Biafra detainees.”

CIC further called on Uwazuruike to be mindful of the media statements he issues against the progress of Biafra actualisation and restoration alleging that it will endanger his already battered relationship with the people of Biafra.
