The National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC) in Sokoto State says 90 per cent of the 1, 835 corps members deployed to the state under the 2016 Batch “A”, Stream II, will be posted to schools.
The state’s NYSC Coordinator, Mr Thomas Yamma, announced this to newsmen in Sokoto on Friday.
“These corps members are going to be posted to schools, especially junior and senior secondary schools sequel to the recent declaration of state of emergency in the education sector.
“The State Government declared the state of emergency due to decay in the sector with a view to reinvigorating it.” he said.
Yamma, who spoke at NYSC’s permanent orientation camp, said emphasis would be placed on graduates of mathematics, English and science-related subjects.
“Emphasis will also be placed on posting more medical doctors, nurses and other health professionals to health facilities across the state.
“This is to boost the current efforts by the state government to provide quality healthcare service to the people of the state,” he added. (NAN)
