HURIWA calls for immortalisation of late Abuja NUJ Chairman Chuks Ehirim

A pro-media Non-governmental group, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has expressed unfathomable shock and trepidation at the report of the demise of the immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory Chapter, Comrade Chuks Ehirim.

The group has also requested the leadership of the NUJ at both the national and Abuja Chapter to name a specific monument like the ongoing secretariat of the FCT Chapter after the memories of the fallen hero of Journalism who lived all his professional life with total commitments to uplift the journalism profession in the country.

HURIWA said it will enlist the late leader of the NUJ into the national human rights Hall of Fame as a legend of Human Rights in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA has also asked the Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, to name the mass communications faculty building of the Imo State University Owerri after the memories of this illustrious son of the soil who was constantly in touch with Imo State and worked with likeminded patriots to promote Imo interest.

HURIWA also canvassed the establishment of an educational endowment fund by the NUJ, Abuja Chapter for the purpose of providing sufficient education to the children of the late union leader as a mark of honor for the numerous credentials of selfless service of the great democrat who just like immediate past President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, relinquished his high office after he was democratically defeated at the NUJ election recently.
