Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi, has said flayed Senators from Anambra State listed among the 34 who have not sponsored any bill for the two years they have stayed in the senate.
Obi who though refrained from mentioning names said the senators have not represented the state well by not helping to sponsor bills that will enhance the status and growth of the state.
“This is what we speak against all the time. You must as civil servants make your own contribution for the state to move forward. These are senators you elected by yourselves, and they went they and forgot to represent you,” the governor told Anambra civil servants.
He continued: “They only take their money there and every week they come back home to blare siren and cause trouble. Even a deaf and dumb would have been able to make a sign at the floor of the senate but they did not. Some of our senators were unable to sponsor even a bill, whereas a senator from Cross River State was able to sponsor 24 bills. So when it is time to cast your votes, you must know who you are voting; it must be someone that is ready to work for you.”
Obi, who was speaking in the capital city of Awka at an event to mark civil service day in the state, said he has consistently used the same set of cars in his convoy for five years now, whereas there are some people who are aspiring to be governor who use over 50 exotic cars in their convoy, which they renew every six months.
“If you vote in people like that, you can be sure that they will use your money to fund their bogus lifestyle. Some of them have never used commercial planes to travel, and your votes will only help them to use public funds to fly around,” the governor said.
He assured the civil servants in the state he will continue to provide a conducive atmosphere for their work, noting that they are the engine on which the wheels of government runs. He also reminded them that government is continuity, and that his prayer is for a better person than him would emerge as his successor.
