FREE AGAIN: Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello
Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has been released from the Kuje Custodial Centre after meeting the N500 million bail condition set by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Abuja.
The bail condition also included three sureties, each owning property in select high-value areas of Abuja, such as Maitama, Guzape, or Asokoro.
The bail was approved on Thursday by Justice MaryAnne Anenih.
Bello’s release was confirmed to newsmen by his spokesperson, Adama Duza, who said the Controller of NCoS FCT, Ajibogun Olatubosun, was present when the former governor regained freedom.
He’s facing a 16-count charge of conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and unlawful possession of property, levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Others facing the same suit are Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu,. All three have pleaded not guilty to the charges. (The Guardian, but headline reigged)
