Residents of Imeko in Ogun State have expressed fear and frustration, stating that Fulani herdsmen have made their lives unbearable.

Communities such as Sagada, Iaro, and Imeko claim to be at the mercy of these alleged hoodlums and have called on the state government to intervene urgently.

A farmer in the community, Adeshina Omidina, said that the arrival of Fulani herdsmen in their community often leaves a trail of sorrow and loss.

Adesina said, ?Many Fulani come here with their cows, and we accommodate them, but recently they have taken our hospitality for granted. Imagine some of them entering people?s farms, destroying crops worth hundreds of thousands of naira, and even demanding compensation from those who challenge them.?

Another resident, Mutiu Adegboyega, noted that this is not the first time such incidents have occurred in the area.

He urged the government to prioritise the security of farmers and citizens.

He said, ?The government must ensure security here. Fulani herdsmen and armed robbers know they can operate freely because there?s no significant security presence.

If government security agencies were here, we would be safe. Many lives have been lost to these people. We cannot confront them because they are armed, but the presence of security agencies would deter them.?

When contacted, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson stated that she would get back on the matter.

Residents of the affected communities continue to live in fear, hoping for swift government intervention to restore peace and security in their area. (The Guardian)
