Nwifuru made the remark during the 2024 Annual Widows? Party organised by the Widowcare Foundation, founded by the Wife of the former Governor, Mrs Eunice Egwu, at the British Hope High School, Abakaliki.
The governor, represented by his wife, Maudlin, described widowhood as a community challenge.

According to him, Mrs Egwu?s Widowcare Foundation has created a situation where widows are not left behind.
He promised to support the initiative to ensure its sustainability.
The founder of the foundation, Egwu, said that at least 550 widows were celebrated in 2024.
She disclosed that between N15 million and N20 million was used to purchase and distribute items to widows as a way to alleviate their poor living conditions.
She appreciated supporters of her foundation and promised its sustainability.
The Chairman of the occasion, former Gov. Sam Egwu, appreciated his wife for her compassion, generosity and consistency in the healthcare delivery, education and empowerment of the downtrodden in society.
The former Minister of Education, represented by Dr John Out, commended the foundation?s partners for their support.
The beneficiaries, including Mrs Augustina Amara and Juliana Uga, thanked Egwu for her ?usual kind gesture? and promised to continue to pray for the development of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Egwu distributed bags of rice, wrappers, household items and cash to the beneficiaries. (NAN)
