Gov Bago of Niger State
The Niger State government has promised to allocate 200 hectares of land each to Dangote and BUA Groups to establish factories at its proposed free trade zone to fast-track development and provide employment opportunities to the people.
Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago made the announcement when he engaged relevant stakeholders at Tagwai Dam in Bosso Local Council of the state.
He explained that his government was opening up 5,000 hectares of land, spanning from Tagwai in Bosso to Shakwatu in Shiroro council areas for socio-economic activities.
The governor said the government was deliberate about taking advantage of the dam in Tagwai to promote massive development of Tagwai, Shakwatu and their adjourning communities.
He had hinted that the state government would construct farm estates, and greenhouses, and establish a drip irrigation farming system, adding that social basic amenities such as roads, schools, and hospitals, among others would also be provided for the people.
Bago stressed that the communities will also benefit from the $2.5 billion livestock investment
He appealed to residents to support the state government, by allowing contractors to execute projects without any hindrance.
The governor assured that compensation would be paid to deserving individuals and communities.
He restated his administration?s commitment to the welfare of the people.
Earlier, the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Faruk Bahago, lauded the governor for his foresight.
He pledged the Emirate?s continued support for the programmes and policies of the current administration.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Muhammad Musa Bosso, described the governor as a good leader, stating that his visit to Tagwai Dam was reassuring. (The Guardian)
