Minister of Education, Maruf Alausa
The Federal Government on Wednesday announced the suspension of a teacher who was caught engaging in an immoral conversation with a female student.
The suspension was conveyed in a statement by Folasade Boriowo of the Federal Ministry of Education.
A video currently circulating online revealed a college staff member engaging in an immoral video conversation with a former female student.
The ministry expressed its deep disturbance over the incident, deeming it ?totally unacceptable.?
In response, ?The staff member in question has been suspended pending a thorough investigation and potential disciplinary measures.
?The suspect has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution, and has also been barred from entering or accessing the school premises,? the statement said.
The ministry assured the public that a comprehensive investigation would be conducted to address this incident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
The ministry further condemned all illegal and immoral behaviours that compromise the safety, dignity, and well-being of current, past, and future students.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe and protective learning environment for all students and pledged to continue working with relevant authorities to bring perpetrators of such acts to justice.
The ministry also appealed to the public, particularly parents and guardians, to cooperate in addressing such incidents.
Additionally, anyone with vital information or evidence related to this or other similar incidents is urged to report it to the authorities.
By taking swift and decisive action, the ministry aims to send a strong message that such behaviour will not be tolerated and that the safety and well-being of students remain its top priority. (The PUNCH: Text, Excluding Headline)
